Claire Beston, Amnesty International's Ethiopia and Eritrea Researcher, visited Washington DC and gave a public speech on the groundbreaking report "Because I am Oromo", a 166-pages report which documents that Oromo people are targeted with 'sweeping" repressions in Oromia region and elsewhere in Ethiopia. The report is one of a kind because it's dedicated to the Oromo people and because it has inspired broader international media coverage, leading to lifting Oromo stories of rampant human rights abuses from obscurity and putting a giant spot light on them so the world can see Ethiopia's dirty laundry. We are aware that there has been a weeks-long report on many Oromo media. This new post contains the actual speech and extended Q & A session with the Oromo Community of the Greater Washington DC metropolitan area. You don't want to miss this. The speech is presented in three parts. You've two parts here and please come back for the third one. Share what you know with people in your social network so they may also know and be empowered. Share what matters, also! The best way to appreciate the public speech is to first read at least the summary of the report and then to watch the speech by an Oromo human rights hero, Claire Beston.
